About the Annual Meeting

The Society of Family Planning is THE source for science about abortion and contraception.

Our Annual Meeting is where those who produce and inform that science come together to share new research; consider new questions; learn from one another; improve their capacity to provide evidence-informed and person-centered care; get inspired; and receive the support they need from peers, mentors, and allies to return to their communities and institutions prepared to advocate for evidence-informed and person-centered abortion and contraception care.

Visit Pittsburgh

Land acknowledgment

We look forward to gathering for the Society of Family Planning 2025 Annual Meeting in what is now known as Pittsburgh.

As we come together, we acknowledge that we will be meeting on the occupied ancestral lands of the Seneca, who were later joined by refugees of other tribes who were forced off their original land and displaced by European colonists, leading to the loss of native language and cultures. We honor the original caretakers of this region and uplift their historic, unique, and enduring relationship with this land.

We offer this land acknowledgment at a time when we gather as a community to reflect and learn and invite the community to learn why land acknowledgements are important and the key components of land acknowledgment. In addition, we encourage you to learn about and consider supporting the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center in Pittsburgh, whose mission is to promote the socio-economic development of the Native American community and other individuals who face similar economic challenges in the Greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area.
