Scientific abstracts

Scientific abstract submissions open March 13 and close April 9.

We seek abstracts that advance the science and medicine of abortion and contraception in the US. Successful abstracts will address timely topics and important gaps in knowledge, demonstrate methodological rigor, and be tailored to the Annual Meeting audience.

Award nominations

Session proposals

Deadline: Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 11:59 pm PT/2:59 am ET

Session proposal submissions are now closed. Notifications will be made in July.

We seek session proposals on timely topics that advance the science and medicine of abortion and contraception in the US. Successful proposals will offer actionable takeaways, center evidence-informed content, be tailored to a well defined audience, utilize effective learning format, and feature presenters with relevant expertise.

  • Pre-conference workshops: 180 minutes, an in-depth exploration of a specific topic. Held on October 24.
  • Plenary sessions: 75 minutes, scheduled without competing session. Held October 25-27.
  • Concurrent sessions: 60 minutes, run simultaneously with other sessions. Held October 25-27.

All sessions and abstracts are reviewed and selected through a rigorous process conducted by peer reviewers, the Annual Meeting Committee, and the Board of Directors. The peer reviewers and the Annual Meeting Committee are selected through an open call recruitment period once a year. More information can be found here.


Please note: #SFP2025 is scheduled to be in an in-person event in Pittsburgh, PA, October 25-27. If your submission is accepted, you should be available to present during those dates.

The Society has a limited amount of funding available to support speakers who do not have institutional support to attend the Annual Meeting and would not be able to attend without financial assistance. Faculty can request conference registration, up to three nights in the conference hotels, travel up to $600, a per diem of $100 per day, and a reimbursement of up to $100 per day for childcare.
