Session proposals

Deadline: Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 11:59 pm PT/2:59 am ET

Session proposal submissions open February 20 and close March 19.

We seek session proposals on timely topics that advance the science and medicine of abortion and contraception in the US. Successful proposals will offer actionable takeaways, center evidence-informed content, be tailored to a well defined audience, utilize effective learning format, and feature presenters with relevant expertise.

• Pre-conference workshops: 180 minutes, an in-depth exploration of a specific topic. Held on October 24.
• Plenary sessions: 75 minutes, scheduled without competing session. Held October 25-27.
• Concurrent sessions: 60 minutes, run simultaneously with other sessions. Held October 25-27.

Scientific abstracts

Deadline: Wednesday April 9, 2025 at 11:59 pm PT/2:59 am ET

Scientific abstract submissions open March 13 and close April 9.

We invite scientific abstract submissions, summarizing one research study, from a range of disciplines that share the latest and best science focused on abortion and contraception. They are presented orally in groups of four or as a poster in the Exhibit Hall.

Award nominations

Deadline: Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 11:59 pm PT/2:59 am ET

We invite nominations for the Society of Family Planning awards to celebrate leaders in the field of family planning. Read about award details and past winners here.

Award nominations are open now and close June 11.

All sessions and abstracts are reviewed and selected through a rigorous process conducted by peer reviewers, the Annual Meeting Committee, and the Board of Directors. The peer reviewers and the Annual Meeting Committee are selected through an open call recruitment period once a year. More information can be found here.

We are seeking volunteers for the following roles: scientific abstract reviewer, session proposal reviewer, Continuing Education Course Director, and Nursing Course Director by March 13.

Please note: #SFP2025 is scheduled to be in an in-person event in Pittsburgh, PA, October 25-27. If your submission is accepted, you should be available to present during those dates.
