The family planning research program at Oregon Health & Science University provides a unique and diverse opportunity for junior investigators to be involved in both basic and clinical investigation. As someone who has been the beneficiary of excellent mentoring and a mentored scholar award (K12), I have had a long-standing commitment to mentoring students, residents, and family planning fellows in research and professional development. This SFP mentoring award will enable me to continue my current level of mentoring independent of my current grant applications and additionally, will allow me to expand the role of and foster mentees in our contraceptive development research program. With this proposal, I have the following goals: to expand my own translational research activities, to increase the opportunities for residents and fellows to interact with reproductive scientists and to be exposed to basic and translational reproductive research, and to increase my time and expertise as a mentor for these types of activities.
