Claire McGlave is pursuing a degree in health economics from the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health. She is motivated to address disparities in access to reproductive healthcare by studying healthcare markets. Claire completed her undergraduate education at Bates College and received a MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her project, Maintaining Meaningful Access to Contraception: The Expansion of Catholic Healthcare Systems documents the role of Catholic-affiliated health systems in the provision of contraception care in the United States. She is developing a database of health system ownership to document the growth of Catholic health systems over time. She will use claims data from Medicaid beneficiaries to illustrate the impact of expanding Catholic health facility ownership on access to family planning services for Medicaid patients. This work is motivated by enhancing equitable access to contraception and securing tools for individuals to maintain their desired physical, financial, and social settings.
