Like you, we are deeply disappointed to learn of the ruling in the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine et al v US Food and Drug Administration et al case. As a Society, we believe that evidence matters, and that the work of Society members and partners is clear: mifepristone has a long track record of being safe and effective, and has been an important component of ensuring people have access to essential healthcare. 

There is still much we do not yet know about how the ruling may impact clinical practice or access to care. While we work as a community to understand the impact, we invite you to explore: 

-A concise summary of the evidence, showing misoprostol for medication abortion is a safe and effective option,

-A recent webinar discussing this evidence,

-The amicus brief we participated in with other medical and public health societies,

-Clinical guidance including: Medication abortion with misoprostol-only: A sample protocol, which serves as supplemental guidance to Medication abortion up to 70 days gestation, as well as resources from FIGO and NAF, and

Taking these actions together, we will continue to work towards just and equitable abortion, informed by science.
