This study will be a multi-site, mixed methods needs assessment of the contaceptive care expereinces of women presenting for bariatric surgery and their care providers. The project will prived Canadian data on the number of reproductive aged women choosing bariatric surgeyr. It will improve understanding of their current experience, as there providers’, regarding contraceptive care. The project will identify needs, faciltators and barriers to contraceptive care in the study population. This data can serve as the basis for improving contraceotive care in the study population. This data can serve as the basis for improving contracetive service by identifying and meeting unmet needs for reproductie aged women choosing bariatric surgery.By working with all relevant stake holders (patients, clinics and providers) we hope to create a Canadian wide counselling tool that could be utilized to provide effective, accurate and appropriate contraceptive counselling to women choosing bariatric surgery via a shared decision making model.
