Emma Carpenter is a PhD candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Social Work. Her primary research concerns family planning needs in the queer community and how to be more inclusive of diverse sexual and gender identities. Emma received a 2018 Emerging Scholar in Family Planning Research award to investigate the role of queer identity in pregnancy desires. Additionally, she brings her policy acumen to the UW Collaborative for Reproductive Equity (CORE) as a graduate research assistant. Originally trained as a social worker, Emma is passionate about bridging family planning and social work research.
